Chinese Sweet & Spicy Spareribs are a tasty alternative to American spareribs. Spareribs are a variety of pork ribs, cooked and eaten in various cuisines around the world. In Chinese cuisine, spare ribs are generally first cut into 3-4 inch sections, then may be fried, steamed, or braised. In the Cantonese cuisine of southern China, spare ribs are generally red in color and roasted with a sweet and savory sauce. This variety of spare ribs, called "char siu", is grouped as one of the most common items of "siu mei", or Cantonese roasted meat dishes.

This recipe is full of beneficial herbs which include garlic, rosemary, and garlic. Garlic may help reduce your blood pressure, Rosemary may reduce inflammation in the body, and Oregano has anti-bacterial properties, as well as is rich in antioxidants.

spicy spare ribsIngredients:

• 2 Cloves garlic, pressed and chopped
• 1 Teaspoon Dry mustard
• 1/2 Teaspoon Rosemary
• 1 Cup Tomato sauce
• 3 1/2 lbs Spareribs
• 1 Teaspoon jalapeno pepper, chopped
• 1/2 Teaspoon Oregano
• 3 Teaspoons Honey
• Orange Juice, from 2 oranges
• Salt and pepper to taste



Preparation:

Preheat barbecue grill on low. Place the first 7 ingredients in a small saucepan and cook for 15 minutes over very low heat.

Blanch ribs in boiling water for 15 minutes. Drain ribs and baste with the warm sauce mixture. Place ribs on hot grill and
partly cover.

Cook 30 minutes, depending on size. Turn ribs often, and baste occasionally and season well. Makes 4 servings.
